Throughout Joe's junior and college hockey he benefitted from great coaches who inspired him to take on that role once his playing days finished. He began coaching in Whitehorse Yukon for the midget AA program, there is snowballed into coaching the Gold Ulu winning Team Yukon in the Artic Winter Games and Team Yukon in the 2007 Canada Winter Games held in Whitehorse.
As a coach Joe expects his players to be respectful, dedicated athletes as well as community members.
"The Creston Valley is a great place for a young junior hockey player looking to be a part of a good program and one for a player who is looking to further his hockey career. We benefit from extra time at the rink where players can go on the ice alone and work on specific skills, free gym memberships where players can get a work out 24hrs a day, and a small college campus."
This is Grady's second season behind the bench with Joe. The addition of Grady last season was a tremendous acquisition for the club. Grady brings NCAA Div 1 experience, from his playing days as a goalie for the Bemidgi State Beavers.
This is Garth's first season behind the bench with the Thunder Cats but before taking some time away from coaching Garth coached the Midget A Provincials Champions, the Creston Bruins. Garth also works full time as a Journeymen electrician at the Columbia Brewery.
Coach and General Manager Joe Martin will be back in the 2010/2011 season, his fourth season. In the last three years, Joe and the coaching staff have compiled a 86-49-19 record, a .620 winning percentage
